Danish Design

My weekend in Denmark exceeded my expectations on a number of levels. I was impressed with the advanced use of technology - from the driverless subways to the rows of wind turbines generating energy. I was inspired by the Danish design that went into making the city look so sleek and modern. And the airport felt like a furniture showroom, with it's stylish luggage carts, potlights and hardwood floors, stainless steel tables, skylights...

Sean and Nat, (our gracious hosts are originally from Ottawa)introduced us to the local wildlife - or their Danish friends. They took the time to share information about the culture and to walk us all around the best of Copenhagen. It appeared that every Dane owned a bike and that running was the most popular activity. I felt very comfortable in this vibrant city until I attempted to jay-walk a quiet street with no cars approaching in either direction. Apparently, jay-walking is unacceptable...

Paris, the City of Romance

You just never know what to expect in Paris. Here's a photo of a wedding party on a double decker bus in the St. Germain de Pres area. Perhaps they were on the way to the church?

Allez! Allez!

On Sunday morning, I rode my bike along the Seine to meet two of my HEC friends who were running the Paris marathon. After training with them for the past few months, I was excited about cheering them on and running part of the course with them. Unlike most marathons, this one ends with a glass of wine! Way to go Kathryn and David!

IVEY vs HEC

While it is tempting to compare my HEC and Ivey MBA experiences, I am afraid that it would be far too controversial for me to post my views here, given the hyper sensitive nature of MBA students.

I met up with a few other Ivey students who are now studying at HEC and we agreed that the programs are completely different.

I am looking forward reconnecting with my Ivey friends at the end of the month at our convocation! I know this will be the last time that I will see many of them so it will be a bittersweet event.

Sunday Skate

As if there isn't enough to distract me from school, I just found out that every Sunday, from now until September 1st, the roads on the banks of the Seine (voies sur berge) will be closed from 9 to 5 pm to motorized vehicles and open to thousands of skaters.
